Outreach in our Community

Our Methodist Church at Sidwell Street seeks to bring its mission and the message of love that Christ embodied to individuals and groups within the local community.

The church is open as a drop-in centre Wednesday mornings - the minister is occasionally there and always other members of the congregation. Drop-in for a cup of coffee, a friendly chat, a cheery smile, listening ear or just to sit quietly in the church itself.

At the back of the property we have the Rainbow Garden which is a breath of fresh air on Sidwell Street. We open it up to the Community February to October every Monday from 4pm to share skills and knowledge on growing fruit and vegetables. There is no charge and all helpers are welcome to take home a share of the produce.

Monday mornings we run an activity group for parents and toddlers using the children's singing groups to get to know each other better over coffee in our Linger Longer Lounge. Thursday evening is Badminton Club night and monthly on the 1st Friday we hold a Company and Craft afternoon.

At Harvest and Christmas, gifts are distributed to various groups in our community.

We work with other Methodist churches to support National and International charitable work including Mission in Britain and World Missions, Methodist Homes for the Aged, Action for Children, All We Can , Christian Aid and the Francisco Rojas School in Peru.

We engage in community outreach especially with those who use our premises for their meetings and community activities like 'Love the Street' and a group of Malayalam speaking people who use our hall for christian worship.

We also support Exeter Street Pastors.
